Dr. Michael A. Boin, M.D.

Orthopedic Shoulder Surgeon

Dr. Boin is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a fellowship-trained shoulder and elbow specialist. He completed his fellowship at the prestigious NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases where he was trained in the most innovative surgical techniques by world-renowned surgeons. He treats all conditions of the shoulder and elbow and has special interests in complex and revision shoulder replacement and rotator cuff surgery. During his time in Ohio, he was a team physician for Division 1 athletes of Wright State University. He has published numerous articles in medical journals, written textbook chapters, and has won multiple awards for his research. He gives instructional and research presentations to orthopedic surgeons across the nation. He has recently been named one of the top 5 surgeons in Kansas City and one of the top 3 orthopedic surgeons in the Northland. 

 

Dr. Boin grew up in Osceola, MO where he graduated valedictorian and was an all-state athlete.  Directly out of high school he was admitted to UMKC School of Medicine.  After medical school he completed residency at Wright State University in Dayton, OH where he was trained in all aspects of orthopedic surgery.  He had excellent training in fracture care and sat on the trauma committee at a level 1 trauma center. During his residency, he achieved the top score in the nation on the orthopedic in-training examination taken annually by all orthopedic residents. 

 

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and travelling.  He loves staying active and working out in his garage gym. He is a fan of the Chiefs, Royals and Tigers.  

 

Commonly performed procedures include: anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement, complex primary and revision shoulder replacement, stemless shoulder replacement, arthroscopic shoulder surgery, rotator cuff repair, labral repair, ligament reconstruction, biceps repair, superior capsular reconstruction, elbow replacement, elbow arthroscopy, tennis elbow repair, Tommy John surgery, nerve decompression, fracture repair, and more.
